KELLY ANN MALONE TO CHOOSE
One wicked winter's frosty night
when warmth was scarce and comfort slight
I laid upon the flattened down
and pulled the stitches from my gown
Unraveling my tattered dress
with mounting foresight and finesse
I felt self loathing leave my hands
and sensed my heart make less demands
I heard the echoes in my ears
demand that I relinquish fears.
I felt the anger leave my brain
as thoughts of woe began to wane.
The sun had just begun to rise,
with yellow, copper, spectral skies.
I chose to live within the light,
and never fear a frosty night.
