THE LOUPIN STANES, DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY
Set on the east bank of the River White Esk, this small oval of stones with a diameter of 38’ was constructed on an artificial platform. Featuring 12 stones, 10 of which are granite boulders, with a portal to the south west created by the two largest. A small avenue of stones leads to an older circle, The Girdle Stanes, ½ a mile away. Roaming cows and thistles abound on uneven ground.
OS: NY.257.966 Off the B723, 1½ miles south of Eskdalemuir in Scotland’s Southern Uplands.
