GLENQUICKAN
1. Upon Cambret Moor

GLENQUICKAN, DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY
Glenquickan, "The valley of Kirkmabrecht", boasts a magnificent central granite pillar over 6' high, 3' wide & 2' thick standing upon a cobbled pavement. The surrounding stones, roughly 30 under 3' high and most likely a much later addition, form an oval 53' by 49' with a north to south axis. A nearby cairn was levelled in 1809, uncovering the skeleton of a man of "uncommon size" with one arm nearly severed by an axe - a fragment of which was found in the bone.
OS: NX.509.582 Upon Cambret Moor near Kirkcudbright in Dumfries & Galloway, 2 miles east from Creetown, in a fenced-off field along Old Military Rd.
