THE GIRDLE STANES, DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY
Around 120’ in diameter, The Girdle Stanes have been partially destroyed by the change in course of the River White Esk - a third of the circle now being in the river. The entrance to the circle is to the south east, and this site was constructed before The Loupin Stanes ½ a mile away, to which it was later connected by a line of now fallen stones.
OS: NY.254.961 2 miles south of Eskdalemuir on the B723 in the Scottish Southern Uplands.
